I think that sexual self exploration is very important for one’s mental health and happiness. It’s been one year and four months since the start of the lockdowns and travel restrictions, and self exploration has been a good way to reduce the tension for me!

But being honest, CBT and sounding might have taken the 5% of the time I’ve dedicated to enjoy my own sexuality. The rest came from dildo play, which I’m just mad about! Very mad! Even more when combined with electrosex! Most of my orgasms ever came from prostate and ass stimulation, thanks to fisting and dildo play. Indeed my love for dildos and fisting started pretty much at the same time, evolving in parallel and being complementary.

I always try to encourage my FFriends to learn to play with dildos. Playing with dildos has allowed me to discover sensations before someone else would do with his hands. The key in fisting is taming first the fear of the unknown, so one big advantage of playing with dildos has been that when I was meeting someone, I was not afraid of the sensations because they weren’t that new and scary. As I am the one in control in dildo plays, I can discover my own pleasures and limits gently, slowly, and get used to all those sensations in a relaxed way.

Another benefit of dildo play as a fister was that I learned to make dildos go deeper and wider through anal muscle control, as I will explain in following post. And these same techniques I learned from dildo play, then I could also apply when being fisted, to facilitate that he could go further or wider. Gentle dildo play with patience is what really helps train the ass and still have it in pretty good shape 20 years later, with the ability of taking a lot without disconnecting the body through a fuelled trip.

It took me time, practice and curiosity to identify the “setups” that worked better, and as part of a great dildo session I take in account the following aspects: the toy materials and brands, the variety of shapes and how they enhance some positions, the complementary toys and furniture that can enhance a certain position and the ambient. Let me start with the materials and the brands in this first post.

Materials and its quality is very important. Rubber is not the best choice – it’s very porous, so it tends to get bacteria and it breaks easily, besides the low quality toys that might still include phthalates. I developed an allergy to latex in the first years of playing with toys, so I always need to buy good quality toys. Now and then my ass burns when finding a bad one!

My preference is having a selection of silicone, vinyl, PVC and metal. I try to have a few of each, because each material brings different sensations and plays, and there are days that my ass is not feeling like enjoying one, so I switch to another material.

I think that playing with dildos is like having lunch: I would get bored eating one same thing, so I like to have a wide menu available and choose what I feel like in the moment.

In general, PVC and metal are solid and durable, deterioration is rare as they are not porous. They might be heavy in weight, so you can use ‘gravity’ as a way to make them go inside. But extra care is required when pushing them, as there is a risk due to lack of flexibility.

On the other hand, vinyl and silicone are very flexible. These are great for pushing and it’s great to have a good variety of shapes as the feelings are intense, as they sort of adapt to the space. However, they easily deteriorate and even break. And using gravity doesn’t work well with them, as they are not usually heavy unless they are massive.

A good set of toys for me includes having a few Domestic Partner, Doc Johnson (specially the American Bombshell collection) and Crackstuffers, mostly made of vinyl and PVC. Those brands have proved me to be pretty rock solid and to have longer durability. They are in the hard range, so I avoid a wild fuck with them, as it tends to irritate and exhaust the ass quickly… unless this is what I want!

I go mad with prostate stimulation, and rounded metal in the form of either an ass hammer, a prostate stimulator or a milking stick is another must in my collection. Rounded metal tends to bring a cold feeling that can be a great relief when the ass has been intensively used and needs a rest but still is hungry. These are better when lying on the sling and being used by a Top, but still a solo play is enjoyable. I always leave the ass hammer at the side of the sling if there is going to be a fisting session with my Master, as it can be either a reward for a good service or a cum denial resistance exercise that could lead to failure and therefore punishment.

These ‘hard’ ones are available in all my plays and serve for specific moments, but are still a small part of all the set. To have a longer dildo session, I try to have a wider range of vinyl and silicone available, as they are very elastic. Elastic toys adapt a bit their shape to the space they find in the ass, and each shape brings different sensations. The elasticity allows safer wild play, while at the same time serving as a training exercise to lose and expand the asshole.

In this group, Fat Tony series has been a very popular one since the 2000s, with the famous collection of toys with names like Nico, Greg and Victor. A classic! There is a great variety of shapes, and while they are also made of vinyl, they are more elastic.

These last years there has been a sort of revolution with the silicone based toys. Traditionally realistic silicone toys would be closer to real cock sizes, with very limited availability of big boys. But then Crackstuffers started a series of silicone based toys, and Mr Hankey’s fantasy and realistic toys came as a blast. They have a flexible and realistic feeling that makes them closer to a real cock, but in a great variety of sizes, big sizes as well!

However, elasticity might also come with shorter durability. After dildo play sessions for a few months with rubber and vinyl toys (not observed yet in silicone), I might start seeing bubbles emerging from the base. The pressure the dildo stands at play seems to be freeing up some air in the material, and eventually this seems to concentrate at the base of it, becoming weaker, while the top part becomes harder.

As a start, those bubbles are not a good thing. They get the dirt and cream which is difficult to totally take out, so they accumulate bacteria and mould, and they tend to be the start of deterioration. And besides this, as the base becomes weaker, there might be risk of getting a toy broken inside if the play goes too wild. And you don’t want to find the dildo base in your hand and the rest well inside, do you?

Be mindful that some dildos have a second piece glued at the base. Those might just hide the same problem, so be mindful of the ‘valley’ that these dildos tend to create. Such valley means lack of material, and under heavy usage the toy will not have proper solid ‘foundation’ and potentially can break.

These problems are not exclusive to cheap toys made with low quality material, but the problems start earlier. But regardless of the material and the reputation of a brand, I try to be always mindful of unexpected changes in a toy. I think it’s better to retire a toy from play when any weaks appear or unexpected changes appear. We can replace a toy with a new one, the ass cannot be replaced. Health is more important than saving a few bucks.

Lastly, there is never anything 100% safe when it’s about inserting chemicals in your ass. You might get now and then a toy that can be felt as burning or irritating, regardless of being allergic to latex or not. Throw those away.

And there will be toys that will not burn and that still contain materials that are not good. If you open the toy for the first time and it smells very intense like if you would be opening a bottle of poppers, you might find a shiny layer or melting substance, you can be sure that will end in your ass at every play. I would avoid those as well.

I guess I personally like to play with vinyl and PVC toys that come from the brands I trust, and I’ve stopped going for cheap ones from unknown brands, as those tend to be smelly and irritating ones. But if you are not happy of exposing your ass to experimentation and you prefer to play very safe, follow the advice of Dangerous Lilly from Toxic Toys and limit the selection to glass, metal and 100% silicone.

And a last advice from the wolf – unless toys are silicone based, try using silicone-based creams when playing with non-silicone toys (PVC, rubber, metal…), as you get a nice slippery feeling without requiring oil/grease creams. This allows to play with condoms without risk. For silicone toys, never use silicone-based creams as this will deteriorate the toy. Clean well the toys after play with wash up liquid, leave them 10-30 minutes in a ‘milky’ solution of water and antiseptic like Dettol, store them in a dark place (e.g. wardrobe or drawers) surrounded each by towels and avoiding the contact among them, and have dehumidifier bags around if you live in a place where humidity and mould is a problem (e.g. Ireland). They will last longer.
